We are a community, bonded by faith in Jesus Christ, committed to being SHAPED by God's word, to SHARING life as God's family, and SACRIFICING for God's mission.
Instead of finding our identity through what we own, what we wear, what we buy, or where we live, we find our identity in following Jesus of the Bible. Our understanding of humanity as God’s creation forces us to return to the Biblical story to find out how we are to live in the world he created. To most effectively center our identity in God, we are committed to studying and following Jesus and asking ourselves and each other this question: “How am I being shaped by God’s Word?”
Along our journey, we have found that it is essential to belong to others who are also having their identity shaped by the story of Jesus. We are committed to opening our lives to a new type of family, one that is centered in living like Jesus. In order to maintain our integrity as individuals and a group, we lay down our rights to individualism, commit to sharing life; specifically our faith, hope, and love in tangible expressions: caring for others, sharing resources, mutual accountability, and showing hospitality to all. To achieve this sense of belonging, we ask ourselves and each other this question: “How am I sharing my life as a part of God’s family?”
The way we read the God’s story is that from the beginning, God was on a mission. He sent Jesus to carry out that mission, and Jesus, in turn, releases us to continue that mission in the world. The mission gives us purpose. The mission is to offer hope, healing, and restoration to the brokenness of the world we live in, starting with our local communities and extending around the world. To ensure that we never lose our reason for being, we commit to developing gospel-centered relationships that are genuine, diverse, barrier-breaking, and life-giving, and we continually ask ourselves and each other this question: “How am I sacrificing my agenda for the mission of God?”
